Listen To The Thunder

"Well... I'm not for now. I'm no one's." He gave a halfhearted smile.

Kevin looked down, unsure of himself really.
Could Rick be his?
No, he was dead....

"Y'know... would you want to have me? I know, I'm damaged goods but hey, atleast I look nice." Rick flashed a quick smile.

Kevin quirked a small smile through his tears.
"Im dead."
Rick needed someone he could always touch and love.

"What does that have to do with anything? I saw your mom and dad, they loved each other and Mike was dead..." Rick said.

"And dad was with Critter." Kevin tried to stand but fell back into the mud. His shin bone hurt, he couldnt put pressure on it.

"I meant after Alex left Critter." Rick put an arm around Kevin's waist to help him stand. "But there's no need to make up an excuse. If you don't want me just say so. Not many people do." Rick smiled, hiding the pain in his eyes.

"Daddy died the day he left Critter. He died after making love to momma, had a heart attack." Kevin leaned on Rick for support, his head resting on Rick's chest. "And I don't want you to go....I want you but come on Rick, do you really wanna be involved with a dead man? I like you and I want you...."

"Hey, it's my choice if I want a dead man. I know it's gonna be weird, difficult, but I can't change how I feel about you."

Kevin hummed and wiped his tears away with the back of his hand.
"Your going to get sick..."
The rain continued to come down hard, feeling like tiny bullets when they hit. Kevin wanted to be Rick's guardian, he would have to see about it but now he had to focus to be touchable.

"Well, I don't care." Rick gave a small smile as he held Kevin to his chest. "Now, we need to get you out of here."

"Where are we going? Im not going home...." Kevin sniffed again, trying to shake the pain and tears away.

"My place. Sydney took Carrie to stay at their dad's old house." Rick said as he carefully lifted Kevin bridal style. "Now, I know it's hard but try to stay touchable I don't want to drop you."

"Ill try to but im not as strong as momma was, I not a guardian, I have less power so if you drop be dont feel bad." Kevin wrapped his arms around Rick's neck.

"But I will feel bad. For hurting you." Rick frowned but continued walking towards his house.

Kevin let his eyes slip shut, certain parts of his stared becoming transparent. If he went to sleep he would totally disappear.

Rick smiled at how cute he looked. But he knew he couldn't let Kevin fall asleep now.
"Kev, wake up." He said softly

Kevin mumbled something and buried his head in the crook of Rick's neck.
"Sorry, I dont sleep alot. I feel safe right now with you so Im able to fall asleep...sorry...."

"It's alright. I just don't want to drop you." Rick smiled. "You can sleep as soon as we get to my place."

"But I wanna spend time with you."
He slipped from Rick's arms and gave a startled yelp before attaching himself to Rick.
"Im awake."

Rick smiled.
"Then you can stay awake and spend time with me." He continued walkign until the house came into view. "Here we are."

Kevin gave a small smile as he looked at the house.
"Thank you for carrying me."
His shin was broken but him being a ghost it would heal in no time.

"No problem Kev." Rick grinned as he kicked open the door and walked upstairs. He set Kevin in the bed and sat beside him.
"Alright you can go transparent now."

And he did, he heaved a sigh as he became transparent.
He was silent for a bit before grinning at Rick.
"My first kiss....."

"My first kiss with a guy." Rick gave a small smile.
