Will You Be My Savior?

Four year old Melody coughed as she tried to find shelter from the pouring rain. She'd ran away from home a few days before and it hadn't stopped raining since. She spotted a house with a covered porch and crawled weakly up the stairs, curling up shivering in front of the door.

Matt looked at his watch and called "Jeff come on we're going to late."

"I'm comin' I'm comin," Jeff said, pulling on his jacket as he came downstairs.

Matt grabbed the car keys and asked "ready?"

"I am if you are," Jeff said.

"ok lets go." said Matt as he walked out the door then he stopped "Jeff?"

Jeff paused. He looked down and saw a little girl curled up soaking wet on the porch. "Poor thing," Jeff said. "We need to get her inside we can't leave her out here like this."

Matt nodded and said i'll bring her inside and you get some blankets." then he gently picked her up and brought her inside

Jeff nodded, running to the bedroom. Melody groaned slightly when Matt picked her up.

"hurry up Jeff. " called Matt then he said to the little girl "hi little one my name is Matt whats yours?"

"M-Melody," the little girl shivered. Jeff walked into the room and sat the blankets down and started to take off the small girl's shoes. "It's not going to help her any if we don't get these soaked clothes off her."

Matt nodded and helped Jeff, when they had her wrapped in a warm blanket Matt said "i'll go take these to the dry."

Jeff nodded, holding the tiny girl close. He noticed the bruises and other marks on her tiny frame. "You poor angel," Jeff drawled softly. "You're safe here."

Matt came back in to the room with a plate of food and asked " Melody are you hungrey?"

Melody looked up and nodded weakly. She hadn't eaten since she ran.

Matt put the plate on her lap and went get her something to drink

Melody ate slowly, trying to not upset her stomach. She didn't want them to know she was sick, they might take her to the doctor if they never, and doctors meant needles and needle were bad.

Matt brought back a glass of water and sat down next to her he looked Jeff and asked "how is she?"

Jeff sighed softly. "She's burning up," Jeff said. "She's covered in bruises too."

Matt sighed and said "we need to got her to a doctor."

Melody squirmed, green eyes widening. "nuh uh, don't wanna," Melody whimpered, snuggling closer to Jeff.

"i'm sorry little one but your sick and need to get better." said Matt gently

Melody shook her head. "am not!" Melody said. Jeff chuckled. "C'mon now sweetie, you don't have to be scared, nothing's gonna happen to you."

Matt smiled gently and said " yeah me and Jeff wouldn't let anything happen to you

Melody still shook hr head. "Don't wanna go," she whined, lower lip starting to quiver. "Pwease don't make me....."
