Free Your Mind

Mike gave a small nod as he squeezed his lovers hand.

Rayner helped Mike up, pressing his hand to his lower back. He opened the car door and helped him into the seat.

Mike was quiet the whole way to the hospital, he knew he was going into labor, he just knew.

Rayner placed his hand on Mikes thigh as they drove. He was feeling anxious.

Mike took Rayners hand and looked out the window.
Something wasn't right.

His grip tightened as they pulled into the hospital parking lot.

Mike went into the hospital and soon his doctor came see him.
He was going into labor.

Rayner felt his heart beat profusely.

The doctor took Mike back and within an hour he came back to Rayner.
"There are complications."

"Wh-what do you mean complications!" He yelled.

"The cord is wrapped around the child's neck. If we save the kid, its mother will die, If we dont try the kid will die."

"Vhat are you saying! You're dockorz! You should know vhat to do" Rayner was getting angry, his accent coming out thickly.

"Well, we know how to save the child.....at the expense of hits mothers life. What do you want us to do?"

"How can you make a man choose between his child and the man he loves" He felt tears well up in his eyes.

"Im sorry sir, I really am. But we cant do both and you will have to live with whatever you choose. I hate to rush you but you have to hurry."

Rayner paced back and forth. His hands over his face. He had a problem. He didn't know what to do. Loose his child, or loose his love. He shook before dropping to the floor in tears, "S-save Mike"

The doctor gave him a sympathetic look before nodding and going back to save the man Rayner loved.

Rayner pulled himself into the fetal position and sobbed his heart out.

The doctor came back almost five hours later and handed him the corpse of his and Mike's baby, wrapped in a pink blanket.

He sobbed as he ran his hand over the child body. He took a tiny purple hand in his. He handed the body back to the doctor and continued to cry, his sobs louder.

The doctor put the child in the morgue before coming back and announcing Mike was stable, and he could be seen.

Rayner sniffed before standing up, his legs almost giving out. He slowly walked to Mikes room and peeked inside.

Mike was seemingly unconscious as his eyes were closed, his breath ragged. He was pale and weak, very tired, and above all, he was heart broken.

He crept into Mikes room, trying his hardest not to sob. Tears stained his cheeks. He knelt down and ran his fingers through Mikes hair.

Mike let out a sigh, his hand weakly coming to touch the one in his hair.
"I-I lost I-It."
