Make It Better

Drew leaned over and kissed it.
"Did I make it better?"

Stephen nodded "A-Ah lil bit." He sniffled, his eyes throbbed. "A-Are ya okay Drew?"

"I'm fine." Drew laughed pointing at the two boys. "They're not." He smiled, satisfied. Then his mother pulled up in front of the park. He quickly took Stephen's hand and ran to his mother.
"Mommy! Stephen needs help! Some mean boy punched him!' Drew exclaimed pointing at his eye.

Stephen made an embaressed noise. "I-Its nothing ma'me." He said shyly.

"Calm down Drew." His mother laughed. She bent down and looked at Stephen's eyes.
"A little bit of ice will fix that right up." She smiled. "Why don't cha come on back to the house. Drew seems to have taken a liking to ya."

"N-No ma'me. Daddt migt get mad at mah." He didn't want to feel his fathers wrath.

She frowned. Drew's face fell.
"Then let me drive ya home. Can't have a little tike like you wanderin the streets alone."

"N-No ma'me, Ah'll get ita trouble for that to." He kept his head down.

"Why would you get in trouble for that?" Drew frowned. He was afraid he might never get to see his new friend again.

"Mah parents are very strickt." And they were also abusive. Stephen was always introuble

Drew frowned and hugged Stephen.
"Well I'll be here again tomorrow. You should come back."
Drew gave him another small peck on the lips and his mother stifled a gasp. They were a very anti-gay family.
"He just doesnt know any better." she told herself.

Stephen nodded. "Ah'll try for ya Drewbie." Kissed Drew's cheek, thankd his mother and then he started his long walk home.

Drew's mother put him in the car and began to drive home.
"Drew, why'd you kiss Stephen?"
"Because I like him." Drew said simply.
"Baby, boys kiss girls. That's how it is. Boys aren't supposed to kiss other boys. It's wrong."
"But I like Stephen momma."
"You can like him as a friend just don't kiss him."
"Alright." Drew sighed. He eventually fell asleep in the back of the car. He couldn't wait until tomorrow when he could see Stephen again.

When Stephen got home he was yell at and hit a couple times, it wasn't asbad as it coul have been. He went to bed without food and all he could think about was seeing Drew again.

The next morning Drew was so hyper. He wanted to go straight to the park. His mother laughed and told him to calm down. She told him to eat his breakfast and then he could go. He quickly scarfed down the food and she drove him to the park as she had promised.

Stephen got no break fast but luck for him his parents didn't give a damn what he did so he walked back to the park.

Drew saw Stephen coming down the sidewalk when he was all the way at the other end of the street. He zoomed towards him.
"Stephen!" He screamed, beaming.

Stephen looked up and grinned, his eye was wollen shut but he knew who it was. "Drewbie! YAR HERE!"

"Mhm!" Drew smiled, hugging Stephen tightly. He went to peck his lips again. But he stopped himself, his mother's words ringing in his head.

Stephen blinked at him. "Why'd ya stop? Did ah du somtin?"

"No! You didn't do anything!" Drew exclaimed. "Just... my momma told me not to kiss you anymore."

"Wh-Why?" He asked. "D-Did ah du somtin ta make her mad at meh?" He tried to remember.

"I don't think so. She just said that boys kiss girls. They don't kiss other boys. She said it was wrong. Even god says so..."

Stephen frowned and pouted. "How do you know what God says?" He was upset, he eally liked Drew. Way more tha those annoying little girls.

"Momma says it says so in the Bible." He and his mother had a long talk last night about why Drew shouldn't kiss Stephen.
