This is How A Heart Breaks

It had been two weeks since Evan's collision with an eighteen wheeler tractor and trailer, and there had been no signs that the young man was going to wake up anytime soon. He'd slipped into a coma minutes after arriving at Saving Grace Memorial Hospital. There also had been no visitors in the young man's room since his arrival. Many of the staff members felt that if Evan went without encouragement for much longer, he would lose the will to wake up.

Matt nervously bit his lip and walk in, he hadn't talked to Evan since two weeks before the accident when they had broken up.

Evan laid there, his chest rising very slowly when he breathed, the only sign the young man was even still alive was that faint rise and fall and the steady beep of the heart monitor.

Matt walked over and gently grabbed Evan's hand "Hey puppy." he said softly.

Evan gave no response. The same constant rise and fall and steady beep remained

Matt sighed softly "Puppy i'm sorry." he said softly.

Evan's heart rate sped up ever so slightly, for just a few seconds, before falling steady again.

"I shouldn't have let you go, i should have tried harder." Matt said softly.

Evan groaned softly. The first sound he'd made in weeks.

Matt sighed softly "I still love you Evan." he said softly.

Evan groaned again. His doe like brown eyes opening slowly as he scanned the room, confused.

"Evan, puppy your awake." Matt said softly.

"M-Matt?" Evan asked hoarsely, throat dry from being unused for so long. "What are you doing here?"

"I heard about what happened and came to see you." Matt answered softly.

"Why?" Evan asked. "I don't matter to you anymore, remember?"

Matt bit his lip "You still matter Puppy." he answered softly.

"Don't call me that," replied Evan softly. "Only people that love me call me that."

"I do love you Evan." said Matt softly.

Evan shook his head. "Don't lie to me," Evan said, turning his back to Matt.

"What can i do to make you believe me?" Matt asked.

"You can't," Evan said simply.

"I see." Matt said sadly turning to leave, his eyes tearing up. He left the hospital and was walking to his car when he was hit by aonther car.

Evan curled up in his bed, he'd just lost Matt......again.

Matt was barly conscience as they rushed him into the hospital.

Evan's eyes widened when the older man was rushed back into his room. "Mattie," Evan whimpered softly.
