Tough Little Boys

"I love you too babies..." He kissed them both on the cheek.

Kevin looked up at hearing a phone, it was Dewayne and the boy ran for it, grinning widely.
"I'm sitting here, I'm thinking back
To a time when I was young

He grabbed the phone, snapping it open.
"Momma!!"
"I miss you! I just heard you were gone!"
"Im okay, me and David are pretty happy."
"Yeah, he seems okay I guess....Kev and Biddy are here with him."
"Awwww I love you too!"
"Where are you?"
"Wow....Ummmm Okay I promise."
"Swear!"

Alex's head snapped up.
"Is that Mike?" He asked hopefully.

Dewayne nodded with a small smile.
"Yeah, He is just checking in and telling me he is okay and where he is." Dewayne went back to the phone, listening.

Alex watched him, longing and heartbreak clear in his eyes...

Dewayne sighed, yes Alex had mistreated him his whole life but he felt bad.
"Momma....tell Alex Hi, he misses you...."
"Momma im serious...he looks heart broken."
"I know but I also know you need him too."
He smiled and offered Alex the phone.

Alex smiled and took the phone.
"Thank you.." He mouthed. "Hey baby, you there?"

Mike could be heard cursing but he sighed and nodded, not like Alex could see.
"Yeah, im here." He walked around in his home, trying to cook for his child.

"um... I miss you.. A lot..." Alex murmured, feeling dumb.

"I miss you too Alex." He could hear Jayden in the back watching some Spanish TV show.

"How are you Mikey...?" He asked softly.

"Tired. I work now, I gotta pay alot of bills and then I gotta deal with Jay-Jay and all of my own emotional shit, I feel like im dying." Mike sighed.

"I'm sorry... I.. are you ever going to come home Mikey? I need you..." Alex whispered, voice cracking.

"Did you need me while you were with Lane or while you had Dustin's dick in your ass?" Mike snapped, before his voice softened.
"I wanna come home but I can't right now."

"When can you come home?" He whispered.

"After you have those kids and...And....And im done thinking about ending everything. If I decide on that I promise Ill get Jay home to you but....Alex I cant go on like this..."

"Neither can I Mikey... I have nothing right now... I'm falling apart without you."

"Alex you keep cheating on me....I mean....You dont even care...That night with Rick...I wasnt hard, I was crying my eyes out, and begging him to stop because it hurt...he wasnt you...it fucking hurt me and you...dont even care....it doesnt bother you..."

"Baby I didn't know what I was doing... if I hadn't been drunk I never would have done it... I swear I don't think of anyone but you like that anymroe... I saw Lane just a few hours ago. And I didn't touch him.."

"What was he doing?If he was hunting he wasnt paying you any mind...or he saw you pregnant...." Mike sighed into the phone.

"He was hunting and he accidentally shot Dustin. He saw me and waved. That was it but if I wanted I could've easily stopped and had a conversation... I didnt'... and if he'd tried to get me in bed I would have turned him down."

"Im so sure. So is it just when im there to see you being unfaithful and be hurt by it? Do you get off on my pain?"

"No Mikey... I just... I just don't know." Alex sighed

"You need to find out....I cant take this anymore Alex, I do have a breaking point." Mike sniffled softly, a tear dripping into his food.

"I kno baby... I'm so so sorry..." Alex pleaded.
