Amy started to dose off when she had a coughing fit

Samantha walked back into the room a few minutes later. She hung the IV bag on the pole.

Amy tried to smile at Samantha but she coughed again

Samantha smiled warmly. "This should help," she said, starting to prep the IV. "I think we caught it pretty early."

Samantha slipped the needle in with her left hand, holding Amy's with her right. "You should probably rest honey," Samantha said softly. "I'm gonna be in and out of her til my shift ends."

a hour later Matt found Samantha "Sammy you need to come now"

"she got a fever now" answered Matt

Samantha sighed. She was advancing into the second stage. "Alright," Samantha said softly.

Amy was still asleep when they came back Matt looked at Samantha and asked "is she going to be ok?"

Samantha gently placed her hand on Amy's forehead. "She's burnin' up," Samantha drawled softly, grabbing the temporal thermometer again, she placed it on the redhead's temple. The reading was significantly higher than it was before. "When she wakes up if she's complaining of any kind of pain, come find me again, cause it's probably gonna be pretty bad, she's crossing into stage two now."

Matt nodded and a half hour later he found Samantha again

"She's awake isn't she?" Samantha asked, though she already knew the answer.

Samantha nodded. She knew exactly what was going to happen. It would slowly progress down her lover's body to the point that it took over everything. "Alright," she sighed, heading back to the room after making a stop to pick up some medication for her.

when they came back to the room Amy looked at Samantha and tried to smile

Amy took the meds and sighed "thank you honey"

"Anything for you darlin' you know that," Samantha drawled softly. Though she was smiling on the outside, inwardly she wanted to cry. Within a few hour Amy'd start losing her voice, and the pains would get worse as they worked their way down.
