Misfit

Quinton tried not to stare at Matt's well tones abs, then man was gorgeous.

Mike sighed and took out his phone. He called Drew. He needed the National Guard, he needed the money. There was not enough time in the day for five jobs.

Matt smiled knowingly. He'd been stared at before. Well much more than stared at. He'd actually worked as a male prostitute for a while before he decided that that job was too dirty and low class even for him.
"Now, does someone like what they see?" Matt laughed as he hopped in the water. He was only kidding. He knew Quinton may find him attractive but he'd never want some homeless perosn when he could do so much better.

Drew answered his phone in a shaky voice.
"H-hello?" Then he saw it was Mike. "I mean... hey Mike." His voice sounded stronger. Like it used to.

Quinton laughed and nodded. He didn't think of Matt as some homeless person. He though of him as the man that might just be able to make him happy again.

"You listen to me, im standing on the rail of the Saint Brigade Bridge and Im going to jump if you dont agree to let me join the National Guard without you doing that stupid shit. We have a baby now, I cant do four or five jobs Drew. I would but there is not enough time in one day. I dont want to die but I wont have a life if I try to jugle all that."

Matt floated atop the water, gazing up at the stars, arms folded behind his bed.
"Thank you. For tonight." He said.

"Mike. Get down." Drew sighed. "I am not asking you to work five jobs. Just stay with the two you have for maybe a month more. Then I'l be able to work too. Mike just please. Please." Drew whimpered. "You cannot join the National Guard."

"Your very welcome. Im going to pamper you for as long as you will let me so get used to it."


"Drew, im the bread winner now, in a few days when I graduate I will have three jobs and I will keep them. In the National Guard I can pay for collage and ill also have other benifits. Ill only be gone sometimes for training and hopefully I can be out of it before we are called on. Baby im serious, its stupid and ridiculous that I have to threaten this, I dot want you to feel like you made me but damnit Drew....."

"Quinton..." Matt sighed. "This is nice but you can't spend so much money and time on me."

"Mike... I can't. I can't even chance you getting called to war... just please. You're living my dream. I know it sounds stupid but I always wanted to be the man of the house. Go out and work my ass off but know it was worth it because I'd have a beautful wife or husband to come home too. I've always pictured it that way. And I can't be the girl. I can't be the weak one. It's not how I was raised. It's not what I want. So please Mike, let my wounds heal. And when I'm able again let me go work. Let me get the money. Let me provide for you and our baby. Please. I'm begging you here." Drew pleaded his fiance.

"Why not? I have nothing else to spend it on and I like you. I dont expect you to hang around, no one does. No one can deal with me being gone for so long and always coming home with a new wound. I dont expect you to, its not fair to you."

Mike looked down. He was not weak, a weak perosn would not have been able to take what he has been taking. And Drew was really going to leave Mike alone with that child for hours on end? Mike didnt know what to do, he could jump, or he could contiue this timeless argument.

"I want to stick around. I like you Quinton. But you don't need some homeless man following you around like a puppy. I don't get too attached to people.."

Drew frowned.
"Mike...?" He called. "Mike please. I've always dreamed of starting a family with you. Since the day we started dating. But not like this. I never wanted it to be like this." Drew shook his head, biting back tears. He had to show he was capable of being strong. "I wanted YOU to have MY child. I didn't want to have some asshole's. I never wanted to bottom to anyone. Unless I decided to let you top me one day. I wanted us to have the perfect fucking life together Mike. And now it's a living hell." Drew's voice cracked but he still managed to hold in the tears.

"See now, I dont think of you as some homeles man, I think of you Matt, the gorgeous man who saved my friend and make me happy for the first time in so long. You dont want to get attached to me, no one does. Its fine." Well Matt had just crushed his small hope of happiness.

"Its not hell as long as I have you Drew. Im sorry this didnt happen like you wanted it too but we cant change it. Im taking care of you right now okay? You have to be home with Paige, she needs her momma more than anything and Drew, the National Guard would help so much."

"Quinton, that's not what I meant. Not at all. I... I want to get attached to you. It's just hard for me. The only people I've ever cared about all screwed me over in the end and I ended up alone. I don't want that to happen..." Matt sighed.

"Mike... what if you get called to war... I couldn't take that Mike. I just couldn't do it. I'll end up killing myself one way or another." Drew frowned.

"Well im sorry, I cant guarentee you ill be here. Im a Green Barett, I take the suicidal missionas, Every day out there I could die

"God damnit Drew! You cant talk like that anymore, you have a responsibility now, its name is Paige. You cant do that, you cant damnit!"

"I know you can't. Which is why I'm so hesitant. But I like you Quinton. I really do. I feel... happy. Normal again." Matt said softly.

"Mike I can't help it. I can not and will not live without you." Drew bit his lower lip, letting a silent tear trickle down his cheek. Goddamnit.

"Me too, Im never happy anymore, well before tonight. You made me so happy tonight. It was nice while it lasted." Quinton sighed.

"This was a mistake. We should not be together. Because if me, your suicidal. You cant be like that Drew, I will die one day and you cant just do that."

"Quinton... I'd like it to keep going. I don't want to stop this. You make me feel good again..." Matt said softly.

Drew froze.
"I-I have to go..." The phone fell from his hand to the floor before he could even hang it up properly.
How could Mike say that? After everything they had been through... How could he say this was a mistake? That THEY were a mistake... A sob tore through his throat and he was bawling again. Mike had turned him into a fucking crybaby. He cursed a nurse who came into the room and asked if he was alright until she left.

"Matt, ill be with you as long as either I can be or you will have me."
He was already expecting a Dear John letter.

Mike sighed, if he had too he would make Drew hate him, he just had to provide for him and the baby. Mike jumped down and went out to the court house. He sighed up for the National Guard.

"Well then I have a feeling you'll be with me for a very long time..." Matt hated how stupid that had sounded. He stepped out of the water and towards Quinton. He knew it was foolish to expect a kiss and yet...


Drew continued crying until he was out of tears.
NOW he was done bawling. He would not be weak anymore.
He laughed aloud. What a fucking joke. He was a bitch now. A bottom, a girl, a wife... and he hated it.

Quinton stayed standing even as Matt walked toward him. He wondered what he was doing.

Mike just drove around aimlessly for a few hours before going to the hospital. He came into Drew's room and handed him his brand new contract which had been sighed. He was now a member of the National Guard, he had already been check out.

Matt sighed and stopped walking. No way he was making the first move and well Quinton wasn't moving at all.


Drew bit on his cheek.
"H-how could you?" He whispered. Mike really didn't care if Drew killed himself.... didn't care that Drew wanted to be the working husband...

Quinton tilted his head and once more he pouted.
"Well hell, I was expecting you to give me a little kiss but okayyy."
He grinned and shrugged, his eyes never leaving Matt.

Mike knelt down and took Drew's hands. "You listen to me, Im doing this and your not going to kill yourself because if you do that would mean leaving me all alone Drew, and I cant be alone like that, not without you. You were the first one to love me and im taking care of you because you took care of me and I love you too. This contract will help take care of us. Im not going to force you to work or stay at home. I think you should be at home with the baby for a while but thats not my call. If you want to work we will have to map out the times and then we need to plan alone time. If you want to be the man of the house you can, later. Right now you just had a baby and you need to take it easy. I will be gone on certain weekends and two months in the summer. God forbid I get called on before I get dicharged but if I do lets just pray I'll be okay.

Matt gave a toothy grin.
"Oh, if you insist." He chuckled and leaned forward, capturing Quinton's lips in a soft, sweet kiss.

Drew stared up at his fiance.
"I didn't want to kill myself... I thought you wouldn't do it..." Drew sighed. "Okay..." He frowned. "But the second I am able I'm getting a job."

Quinton wrapped his arms around Matt's waist and pulled him closer as he enjoyed the feeling of Matt's lips on him.

"I know, but I also knew I could change your mind. And what I said earlier, I didn't mean it. I was upset, because me you were threatening suicide, I hated it. And about that, you need to take your time to heal and then you need to spend time with Paige."

Matt smiled into the kiss and for the first time in almost ten years... he felt loved. Well not loved yet. But certainly liked.

Drew nodded.
"Fine... but Mike, you need to spend time with her too. I know you don't think so but you are her father."

Quinton pulled back and rested his forehead against Matt's.
"You are was too damn cute."

Mike nodded.
"I know, and I will, when I can. I just took on another job. It will be hard but I will make time."

"I know." Matt chuckledkissing the tip of Quinton's nose.

"Mike you're going to have a mental breakdown. Trust me they're not pleasant..." Drew frowned

"Your coming home with me?" He pulled Matt to his chest. "I dont want you on the streets anymore."

Mike snorted.
"With my father? I have had a few, hell I have had anxiety attacks and God knows what else. I just dont have a name for most of it."
