This is the Last Night You'll Spend Alone

Evan tried his best to find shelter as the rain poured down around him. His tattered clothes did little to protect his many cuts and bruises from the elements. He moved as quickly as his starved body would allow him. He couldn't remember the last time he'd had a decent meal, or for how long he'd been ill, all he knew was he was alone, he was always alone. He took shelter behind a building, hoping the rain would end soon.

Randy stormed out of the club into the pouring rain.
"Fucking assholes." He muttered. His friends had left without him, taking the car with them and there wasn't a cab in sight. Fine by him. He'd walk home in the rain. He stormed down the sidewalk, wanting to get out of the rain as soon as possible. A bolt of lighting flashed, just inches in front of him, if he hadn't stopped to catch his breath he would've been hit. He realized this wasn't safe, he cursed his friends for leaving him here and took shelter behind a small building. He sunk to the ground against the brick wall. He just sat there for a minute before he realized, he wasn't alone.

The smaller man curled up against the wall. He didn't want to be hurt anymore

Randy slid closer to the other man, wanting to get a better look. His clothes were in shreds, there were large cuts and bruises all over him. The man looked horrible, sickly. It took him a moment to find his voice.
"Hey man, you alright? You don't look too good." He asked then realized his usual drawl probably sounded frightening and unfriendly to the stranger.

"W-W-Who are y-y-you?" Evan asked weakly

The man sounded sick too, weak, like he'd been out here for days, possibly weeks.
"I'm Randy." He cautiously extended a hand, not sure if this man was friendly.

Evan look the larger man's hand, weakly shaking it. "Evan," the smaller brunette said softly.

Randy nodded at Evan politely, the rain was now starting to subside. He stood up.
"You need some help?" He asked.

Evan looked at Randy, fear in his eyes. The last time someone had offered him help, they'd raped him hours later.

Evan looked afraid, terrified. Randy didn't understand. He thought he'd been on his best behavior. He hadn't tried to be too intimidating.
"I'm not gonna hurt you." Randy said slowly, talking to Evan as if he was a kindergartener. He didn't think Evan was stupid, he just couldn't fix something, when he didn't understand it in the first place.

"That's what they all say," Evan muttered, brown eyes not daring to look away.

Randy's brow furrowed. He wondered exactly what this man had been through.
"Evan, can we go talk somewhere? Possibly somewhere not cold and wet?" Randy chuckled slightly. "There's a little diner right down the street."

Evan nodded slowly. As long as he was out in the open he was safe. Randy couldn't hurt him if they were in the open.

Randy extended a hand to Evan and helped him off of the ground. They walked down the street together to the diner.

Evan couldn't help but cast a wary eye into the many places he'd hidden in recent weeks, double checking for anyone lurking in the shadows.

Randy's forehead creased in thought as he wondered why Evan was so... untrusting. So protective of himself. He took Evan's hand and led him to a table in the far back corner.

Evan was almost shocked when Randy took his hand. He was so.....gentle. Evan wasn't used to this. This was.........alarming to him.

Randy bought himself a coffee, and after realizing Evan had no money bought one for him as well. He took a large gulp, scalding himself before speaking.
"Evan, I'm not gonna beat around the bush. That's not how i do things. Somethings happened to you, i could tell even if you didn't have cuts all over you. There's something different about the way you carry yourself. I'd love for you to explain why you were out there tonight."

"I live out there," Evan said matter of factly. "The street is my home."

"That can't be much fun." Randy replied. "If you don't mind my asking, what... what happened to you?" He gesured to Evan's torn clothing and the bruises that adorned him.

"I ran into some people that weren't the best guys out there," Evan said softly. "They kinda messed me up a little." Evan wouldn't admit to everything they'd done to him.

Randy couldn't imagine who would want to hurt this innocent man. He could tell there was something he wasn't being told but he didn't want to pry. He'd just met Evan after all.
"Well I hope you're alright. Now, you look starving. What would you like to eat?" He gestured at the menu.

Evan glanced over the menu. It'd been so long since he'd had a real meal he wasn't sure what to get......

Randy watched the way Evan hungrily looked at the menu. He looked as if he hadn't eaten in forever.

"I....I don't know," Evan stammered. "It's been so long since I've eaten anything........."
