This is the Last Night You'll Spend Alone

"They're gonna come looking for me Randy," Whimpered Evan, curling up on himself.

"Even if they do, I'll be right here Evan, I''m not gonna let them do that to you again." Randy placed a gentle hand on Evan's cheek.

Evan looked up at Randy, finally voicing the question that had been on his mind for hours. "Why are you being so nice to me?"

Randy stayed silent, thinking of the answer to this.
"I... I don't know. I don't think anyone should have to go through something like that."

Even before you knew, you were nice to me," Evan said.

Randy thought harder, Evan was right.
"I really can't tell you why, I don't even know."
Randy had just seen something in this man, the second they locked eyes.

Evan nodded. "Nobody's ever been nice to me before......" Evan trailed off.

Randy frowned. Everyone deserved a helping hand every once in a while. Everyone needed someone to stand by their side, a shoulder to cry on. He decided then and there that he would be Evan's.

Evan whimpered as the room began to fill with people, doctors poking and prodding at him in very painful ways. "Go away," Evan whimpered, pushing himself to a comer of the bed.

"They're just trying to help you Evan." Randy said, hand resting on Evan's thigh.

Evan shook his head. He looked more like a terrified child than a grown man.

Randy cupped Evan's trembling hand in both of his own and squeezed it gently.
"You're gonna be alright Evan. They're not trying to hurt you."

"Too...too many people Randy," Evan whimpered. "Don't like it..."

Randy frowned at the whimpering man, then cleared his throat.
"Everyone get the fuck out! One at a time!" He shouted, startling all the nurses and doctors.

Randy's voice startled Evan for a brief second before he calmed again.

Everyone just stared at Randy. But after one more glare they scattered out of the room. Then one at a time they did what they needed to check on Evan.

Evan cast a worried eye at each of them as they would enter, but tried his best to stay calm.........that is until a nurse came in to administer his IV. His days with the heroin junkie had him horrified of needles

Randy felt Evan's hand tighten and saw the look of fear in his eyes.
He remembered what Evan had told him about the heroin and realized why he was so frightened.
"It's alright, you'll be fine." Randy leaned down and cooed in Evan's ear.

"Get.....get it away...." Evan whimpered, brown eyes wide.

"Just relax. It's not going to hurt you. It's going to help." Randy whispered.

Evan really didn't want that needle going in him, but he lacked the energy to fight anymore. He whimpered as the needle slipped in.

"Good boy." Randy rubbed Evan's head as if he was a dog or a young child, he didn't really know how to handle someone like Evan.

"St-Stay with me?" Evan stammered shyly. He really didn't want to be alone.

"Of course." Randy smiled at how adorably nervous Evan was.

For the first time that day, Evan's signature smile crept across his tired face.
