I Shouldn't Love You, but I Want To

Alex scooted over, letting Evan hold him.

Evan held onto Alex tightly. "Shhhhh, shhhhh it's okay, I'm here, I've got you," Evan whispered.

Alex's chest heaved with the sobs escaping his lips that he tried so hard to keep sealed. This was the most he'd ever let anyone see him cry.
"Evan, I don't know what to do. It's killing me pretending to be straight. But if I come out I have to deal with everyone looking down on me, teasing me and my dad...."

"No matter what you choose to do, I'll be right beside you," Evan said.

Alex buried his head deeper into Evan's chest, wrapping his arms around his waist.

Evan rubbed his back. "Everything's gonna be okay," Evan whispered.

Alex shook his head.
"No. No it's not. Either way my life is screwed."

"Alex......" Evan sighed.

"Sorry, I'll stop bothering you." Alex moved away, burying his head in the pillow instead of Evan's chest.

"Alex, baby, that's not what I meant........"

Alex sighed. He knew Evan hadn't meant it like that. He just sunk deeper into the mattress.

Evan rubbed his back.

"Kiss me." Alex whimpered, not having the energy to sit up and do it himself.

Evan leaned in close, kissing Alex softly.

Alex felt himself relax at the feel of Evan's lips.
"Thank you Evan. For everything."

"Anything for you mi amor," Evan smiled.

"Evan..." Alex began. "I'm gonna tell him. I'm gonna tell my dad I'm gay. I'm gonna tell everyone." He decided.

Evan nodded. "I'll be right there with you if you want."

"I want to tell my dad alone. I think that'll be best." Alex said, standing up.
"I'm gonna do it now. Before I change my mind."

Evan nodded. "I'll be here," Evan said.

Alex nervously walked back to his house. His parents were still sitting there, exactly the same as before he left. They were in mid conversation but stopped abruptly as the door swung open.
"Alex, you can't just run off like that." His mom gave him a hug. "I was worried."
His dad just sat there.
"Dad I have to talk to you. Both of you actually."
They had a long conversation and finally the words came out.
"I'm gay."
His mother just stared at him.
His father wore a blank expression.
"Out." He pointed at the door.
"Huh?" Alex asked.
"Get. Out. Now."
"But dad-"
"Get the hell out of my house."
"Mom" Alex looked helplessly at his mother.
"This is my house not hers. Leave." His dad snapped.
Alex bit back tears as he walked outside.
He'd been prepared for yelling, screaming, crying, even a slap but not this. Anything but this.
He hobbled down the street on his crutches, tears blurring his vision.

Evan was on his front porch waiting.

He turned the corner trying to find the strength to atleast make it to Evan's house before he broke down. Finally, he saw him waiting on the porch.

Evan walked to the end of the walkway, pulling Alex close.

"H-e made me l-leave." Alex cried, soaking Evan's shirt.
