Vanillia Twilight

Jeff told himself that if Mike hadn't awoken by morning, he was going to try something that might be risky, but it was worth it.

Mike was still asleep by the time the sun had come up but he was breathing.

Jeff made a quick call later that morning. He had to find out if this was going to work.

The doctors were starting to give up hope on Mike. He just wasn't waking up.

Jeff smiled when Caitlyn arrived, carrying a sleeping Hailey in her arms. If anybody could wake Mike up it was her.

The doctors allowed this seeing as they didn't think it would harm him and they didnt see him ever waking up.

Jeff smiled at Hailey when she woke up and sat her down next to Mike, watching as she rubbed his arm. "Daddy?" she asked softly. "I miss you."

Mike didn't change any, didnt even notice she was there. All Mike knew was darkness.

"Daddy please wake up," Hailey sniffled. "I already losed my momma, I don't wanna lose you too," she added. "I'll be a good girl I promise, just wake up."

Mike heard enough that he knew Hailey was in the room. Mike tried, but e couldn't wake up, it was frustrating.

Jeff sighed and watched Caitlyn walk into the room. "C'mon big brother," Caitlyn said. "Whose going to pester me if you're gone huh?" Caitlyn asked. "Whose gonna teach this baby how to pester momma?"

Mike heard that last part, he couldn't wake up but the heart monitor and several other machines started going off like Crazy and a nurse escorted them out.

Jeff and Caitlyn looked at each other worriedly, Caitlyn with a hand on her stomach. Mike had to wake up, he just had to.

A nurse came out. "Did you do something to upset him or surprise him?" She asked.

"I told him I was pregnant," Caitlyn said softly.

"Okay, were trying to stabilize him but he is not calming down, his blood pressure just shot up and his heart is racing and several other things."

Caitlyn hung her head and nodded. This wasn't what she'd wanted to happen

"You can't see him anymore for a while and in a few days we will have a question if he is not awake."

Jeff nodded slowly. He knew what that meant. He didn't want to admit it, but he knew.

(3 Days later)
It had been three days and Mike had not woken up. He was still comatose, and today they were letting Jeff back into the room, also asking a very important question.

Jeff stood at the door to the room. He didn't know if he could handle this. He wasn't going to let Mike go, but he hated seeing him like this.

The nurse was waiting for him, a paper in hand. The nurse was giving him physical therapy because he couldn't exercise on his own.

Jeff walked into the room, staring sadly at Mike.

"Sir, I need to ask you." The nurse started, after she was done with Mike. "Do you want to keep him on life support?" She sighed "He may not ever come out of this....and it said in his will he didn't want to be a vegetable all his life." She cleared her throat. "But he left the decision to you."

"I'm not giving up on him," Jeff said simply. "I won't do that."
