Mistakes

"How in the hell do you know that when I just asked for a divorce?" Mike questioned.

Alex pulled away from his husband.
"F-fine then." He cried. "B-be that way. L-leave me." He wiped away tears with fists.

Mike just stared at his husband, he had just be given the okay. Mike wordlessly got up to go pack his things. Tear already making there way down his cheeks, but it was for the best, it was for Alex.

As Mike got ready to walk out the door, Alex flung himself at him. He sat on the floor wrapping his limbs around one of Mike's legs, burying his face in his lover's thigh.
"No Mike. Don't g-go." He cried, knowing this was the most childish thing he'd ever done.

Mike stopped and dropped his bags, looking down at his husband or soon to be ex-husband. Mike sighed and took Alex by the shoulders prying him off his leg. Mike got down and hugged Alex. "You told me It was fine, I could go."

"I l-lied. I th-thought you knew me b-better than that." Alex sobbed, reattaching himself to Mike's leg.

"Alex baby, get off my leg. If you want to hug something hug me and not my leg." Mike opened his arms up.

"P-promise you won't leave and mean it. Then I'll let go." Alex said firmly.

"Alex," Mike said softly, a warning hidden in his words. He didn't make promises he didn't know if he could keep. Mike pulled Alex off his leg and into his arms. "Why not just let me go?"

"Why not just stay?" Alex retorted, hurt clear in his eyes. "I love you too much Mike."

Mike hugged Alex tighter. "Just because you love me, doesn't mean Im good for you. You need someone who can help you and make this family stable. I cant do that, im always screwing something up."

"You've raised these kids with me for fifteen years now Mike. If you leave I don't care if I find prince charming this family will never be stable again."

"Alex, you deserve better than me." Mike said as he kissed Alex's cheek softly, not wanting to let go.

"No I don't Mike. Think of all the things I've done to you. I hit you, I left, I made you lose your best friend..."

"So......if I weren't such a cry baby I would be okay. It wouldn't hurt so damn much. And If you had someone else, maybe you wouldn't have felt the need to hit them, or leave them, and maybe you would trust them."

"Mike stop this! Please! I don't want you to go! I will tie you to the damn bed to keep you here if that's what it takes."
He was only joking he couldn't make Mike stay here against his will.

Mike looked at him quizzically. "Yeah, im sure you will Riley." Mike looked at his bag.

"Mike p-please." Alex got down on his knees on the floor and clasped his hands together.
"I'm begging you please don't go."

It was official, Mike couldn't take that anymore. He took his bag and walked out the door, going to get the rest of his things out of his car, he couldn't leave. He loved Alex and apparently, Alex loved him enough to get on his knees and beg.

Alex's knees gave out from under him and he collapsed onto the floor. Tears, this time ones of joy,rolled down his face.
Mike was going to stay.

Mike came back and put his bags by the door before he picked Alex up and carried him to there room. "Will you be okay now that im staying?"

Alex nodded his head vigorously. He buried his head deep in Mike's chest, smiling so wide it hurt.

"And were you seriously not going to sign the papers?" Mike asked gently. Did he mean enough for Alex to blatantly refuse.

"Course I wasn't." Alex said honestly. "Like I've said before. You're not getting rid of me that easy." Alex gave a small smile.

Mike laid beside Alex and cuddled up closer. "What if I did leave? Wouldn't you try and find someone else?"
