Fall For You

"Okay daddy... You know how I said I had a nightmare last night?" She said quietly.

"Yes baby, is there something you want to tell me about that nightmare?" Mike cocked his head to the side.

She nodded.
"I didn't want to tell momma but..." She stood and disappeared. A minute later she returned with a picture in hand. "I found this in momma's dresser. Who is this guy?" She handed Mike the picture. It was of the man who had raped Drew...

Mike was silent for some time.
"Paige, baby....you don't ask momma about this okay? Don't mention anything about this man." Mike took the picture. "He was a bad man kinda. He hurt your momma. But its okay. You just let daddy take care of momma and you don't say anything about it sweetness."

"But daddy... what'd he do to momma?" She asked softly. "And if he hurt momma why did he have a picture of him?"

"Baby, your to young for this right now. I will take care of momma. You just don't worry about it. Let daddy handle it."

"Yes sir." Paige frowned. She didn't like someone hurting her momma...

"Promise me Paige."
Mike was very serous about this.

"I promise daddy..." She frowned. She didn't want to but she knew to respect her father.

Mike smiled and stood up before picking his baby up with him.
"How about Daddy makes us some breakfast."

She grinned as her tummy rumbled.
"Yes please."

Mike slipped the picture in his pocket before going into the kitchen and cooking omelets.

"Thank you daddy." She smiled. She followed her father around like a puppy all morning.

Mike was loving this. He enjoyed spending time with his baby. He played with her all day, anything she wanted.

Drew had woken up for breakfast. He went to get clothes for the morning and noticed that the picture was missing.
Drew hated the damn picture. Made him sick to look at. But he needed it. He'd been to a therapist actually. They told him he needed to take the picture out at least once a week. Just stare at it and talk to the man in his head or if he was alone, quietly out loud. It was supposed to make him less afraid of the man and what he had done.
"Mike... has someone been in my dresser?"
It had been very hard to get that picture.

Mike looked at Paige, making sure she wasn't saying anything before smiling to his husband.
"No, why?"

"Something's missing...." Drew muttered, still digging through the dresser frantically.

Mike picked Paige up.
"Lets go swing baby." She had a swing set outside. As he passed Drew he paused just long enough to whisper. "Later." before he took Paige out and sat her on the swing.

"Daddy... I think Momma wants his picture..." Paige frowned.

"Baby, let daddy deal with mommy. I know what im doing, you just do what you promised and dont say anything."

She sighed.
"Okay daddy."
Drew slowly walked out, he had been listening.
"So, what is she not supposed to tell me?"

"Drew, I will deal with you later. She has made a promise to her daddy and I trust her not to break it s dont pry." Mike sat Paige on the swing before pushing her, watching as she swung back and forth in front of him.

"Well then can I talk to you for a moment?" Drew asked with aa sigh.

Mike gave Paige one more push before walking over to his husband.
"What?"

Drew tugged Mike to the side.
"Okay, now don't be mad please. I had a picture of HIM. I keep it in the dresser. I didn't tell you cause I didn't want to upset you. But I don't want it. I need it. I went to a therapist. And he said it's supposed to help the nightmares and flashbacks stop. I'm supposed to 'talk to him.' So, that's why I have it. That's why I'm so upset about it missing. I want the damn things to stop. Please, don't be upset with me." Drew said hopefully.
