Somewhere With You

A relieved look appeared on Zac's face. Not like they'd care if they knew he did cut himself. But still.
He carefully pulled his sleeves down, hoping Kevin or Rick was not looking as he dried the blood and put his wrist cuff back on.

Kevin was eying him carefully.
"Rick...please go tell momma I need something for my stomach...."

"Sure thing baby." Rick kissed Kevin's forehead and eyed Zac. "Behave while I'm gone." He nodded and walked off.

"C'mere baby." Kevin leaned against the wall, the only thing keeping him sitting up.

"M-me?" Zac asked curiously, his 'fuck you all' facade crumbling around him.

"Yes sweetheart, you." Kevin patted the spot beside him, his gaze soft on the child.

Zac stood and slowly walked over to the bed, sitting beside Kevin.
"What... mom?"

Kevin smiled at him and gave a small nod, taking the childs hand and slowly taking off the cuff and rolling up the sleeve, his jaw clenching at the site.
"Oh baby...." He gently pulled Zac to his chest.

Zac looked away, gently tugging back his wrist.
"Don't tell dad. Please." He looked up at Kevin with his bright blue eyes.

"Okay, I will try not too but I wont lie to him. You might not see it but he loves you, your precious." Kevin rolled up his sleeve and showed Zac all the deep scars in his arm.
"He got me to stop. I want to sometimes but I don't anymore. Your grandma did it too." He gently too Zac's hand, his voice gentle. "You know you acted like a brat out their but....You know what? Thats your family and they still love you. Even the crazy man who yelled the whole time. Your not mine, and...its hard for me to have you because looking at you reminds me I was not your fathers first love...or his first time or anything he was and is to me. But....I said I was going to try and love you for him and....I will. Your my baby now. Your daddy don't want me to have anymore kids so....I got you and I got my three month old." Kevin kissed his forehead.

Zac bit his lower lip before tentatively hugging Kevin, eyes tearing up a bit. He didn't speak, simply hugged him tightly. That was his way of saying thank you.

Kevin held Zac tightly and kissed the top of his head.
"You listen to me. Im your momma now, If you would have been mine to star with I wouldnt have let you go baby. But I was never born either. Your real momma is a good girl but she...she couldn't take two kids, I know its not fair but you got me...you can talk to me....If you can't talk to daddy you have me."
Kevin was trying to let this kid know that he did have a family and he was loved. He didnt need to cut anymore.

Alex nodded. He paused a moment, kissing Kevin's cheek before silently removing his choker, revealing the deep scars across his throat also. Then he rolled up his pant legs, showing Kevin the scars on his ankles too. Then he replaced his choker and cuffs, once again covering all of his scars,

Kevin frowned and stopped him. He gently kissed the deep scars on his neck and even the ones on his ankles before covering them his self.
"Sweetheart, You can't do that anymore. I love you too much to let you hurt yourself. Im here when you need help, just...no more of that." Kevin held out his hand for the knife.
"And im sorry, I know it can't be to fun having a cripple for a momma but im still here at least."

"Hey... you're pretty cool for a cripple." He smiled softly, showing he was just joking at least about the cripple part.

Kevin rolled his eyes.
"Your father hates that. I call myself cripple because sometimes I just dont ever see myself walking again. He hates it...."
Kevin let his hand press against his belly.

"I could tell..." Zac nodded. He was avoiding what Kevin had said about handing over the knife.

Kevin had not forgotten.
"Zac. I want the knife right now baby."
He frowned, his eyes tired.

Zac frowned.
This was a good start but he couldn't just stop cutting like that...
"Mom..."

"Baby please. We are working on this. Me and you, no one else. When he feel the need to cut you come to me and ill help you through it, we are working on it but I want the knife Zac. I can't let you hurt yourself like this. Give it here baby."

Zac frowned as he pulled the knife out of his pocket. He had other things he used that Kevin did not know about but this knife was special for some reason. It just was. He'd had it for forever. He sighed, running the blade lightly across his finger tips. He ran his thumb across the handle where he had carved his initials. He frowned once more before placing it in Kevin's palm.

Kevin held the knife, his eyes taking Zac in.
"Baby, im going to be watching you. You cannot fool someone who has been their before. I know their are other ways to do this and you might hate me before its done with because Im going to be watching you like a hawk."

Zac frowned.
"Okay mom..." He sighed and rested his head on Kevin's shoulder tentatively.

Kevin wrapped an arm around him and kissed the top of his head.
"Baby, your going to be okay. Im going to make sure of that."
He had no idea how he could be so nice to this child....maybe it was because he loved Rick so much.

"I'm... sorry." He frowned. "For calling you a cripple..."
