Tough Little Boys

Dustin's hand found Alex's, holding it.
He was afraid...
For Mike because if he would do this...something was so wrong with him.

Alex was hesitant but he held Dustin's hand. David waited for the blood to stop before looking at his jaw with a frown. He had to wire it.

Dustin smiled at David, looking him over.
He missed Dewayne....

David smiled right back as he finished fixing Dustin up.
"I'm supposed to tell you Dewayne loves you. And your supposed to tell Chris that Dewayne loves him too." He chuckled as he packed his things back up.

Dustin nodded, looking around for Mike. He knew David wasn't too fond of him because of the way he was with Dewayne.
How upset Dewayne got over him...

David didn't like the word hate. It was too strong of a word he thought. He'd never hated anyone... but... He.... strongly disliked Mike...

Dustin sighed.
He knew his son could be heard many nights crying about Mike...

And David couldn't stand it... couldn't stand that Mike hurt Dewayne so bad and still had the nerve to say he loved him.... still made the kid call him momma.... Mike wasn't Dewayne's momma.... he was some stranger he saw maybe once every few months.

Dustin picked up a piece of paper and scribbled.
How is Dewayne?

"He's... good." David nodded. "Don't really change much." He chuckled. "He misses you two like crazy."

Dustin nodded with a smile.
Dewayne had also asked David to tell Mike he loved him...

David would do so if he saw Mike. He wasn't going around trying to find him...

But Dustin knew better.
got something to tell Mike?

"Maybe." David sighed. "Where is he?"

I don't know, I bet if you go into the kitchen you'll find his mean little ass.
Dustin shook his head.

"Lucky me." David sighed as he walked out into the kitchen.

Mike was there, trying to wash dishes. He had a line up of pictures on the window sill, from the oldest of his kids to the youngest.

David walked over to him and sighed.
"I'm supposed to tell you Dewayne loves you."

Mike nodded, looking up at his picture, one of the only ones of him and Dewayne he had. Dewayne was so cute, looked like the perfect mix of him and Dustin.
"I love him too...." Mike whispered, his words sincere.

David snorted, nodding and walking away.
"I'm sure you do." He muttered.

"I do David....If you ever had kids....and had to chose between a child and Dewayne....would you let him go David? I know you need him....He cant let go...neither could I but I still love him."

"Yes actually I would Mike. I wouldn't give up my sweet baby. I've watched families forced to give up their children and I can't stand it. And if I could've once done it before, I sure can't now after seeing what you've done to Dewayne."

Mike shook his head.
"David.....Dewayne is fine. If he wasnt id do something but he is okay....Im fine with how it is because Dewayne has....A family....Chris is a good mother....Im happy with it.."

David laughed hollowly.
"You're fine knowing your baby cries himself to sleep because of you?"

Mike paused, thinking about it.
"Might say its me but if I had a lover like you I would cry too. Your wrong on this David, you weren't here for any of the things me AND DUSTIN decided upon when raising Dewayne so get the fuck out of my face."
