Vanillia Twilight

Mike nodded. He had nothing against kids he just didnt want any. Mike glanced in the mirror and scowled, his face looked like shit.

"You built it you know," Jeff added, looking for a washcloth.

Mike hummed. "I always have been good with my hands." Mike inspected the bench, it looked like his handy work.

"She really likes it," Jeff said, wetting the cloth down with warm water.

"Im sure it was made special." Mike shrugged. "What was so special about this kid anyways?"

"She has Cerebral Palsy Mike, she can't walk without help," Jeff explained.

"Thats not what I asked, I have seen kids like this before, whats makes this on so special?" Mike touched his face gently. "What what make this kid special enough that you let me go to keep it." Mike whispered, not meaning for Jeff to hear.

"Her smile when she looks at you," Jeff said. "Her laugh when we'd tickle her."

Mike turned his head and rolled his eyes, he didn't like this, it was painful. Mike flicked some dried blood from his arm.

Jeff took the warm cloth and started to wipe the blood away.

It bothered Mike, Jeff had said he loved Mike more than anything else in the world. Mike sighed and played with Jeff's ring in witch he now wore on his finger.

Jeff was cleaning Mike up when the soft sound at the doorway caught his attention. "Haileybug?" Jeff asked. "What are you doin' up baby girl?" Hailey crawled over to Jeff and used his leg to pull herself up. "Couldn't sleep daddy."

Mike turned his head away in a silent pout. No wonder he didnt want kids, he was a child himself sometimes. Mike was beginning to think he had over stayed his welcome. Mike took the wash cloth from Jeff and decided to just do it himself. He wouldn't admit that there was something familiar about that child.

Jeff nodded. "Why don't you go sit in our rocking chair princess and daddy'll be right out, okay?" Jeff asked. Hailey nodded. She looked up at Mike and gave a small smile. "Welcome home," she whispered.

"This is NOT my home." Mike grumbled, Jeff was NOT his husband and that brat was NOT his child.

"Mike don't," Jeff said softly. "Go on darlin, daddy'll be right out in just a few minutes baby. Hailey nodded, pouting as she left.

Mike stood, still bloody but he was not sitting here and listening to this.

"Mike....don't," Jeff pleaded. He couldn't let Mike walk away, not this time.

"What do you want me to do? Sit here and pretend to love that child?" Mike frowned, tears welling up in his blue eyes.

"You loved her once...." Jeff muttered softly.

"Yeah, and I loved Daffy once, that is before he beat the hell out of me." Mike frowned. "I loved you then, I love you now." Mike grit his teeth together. "You used to love me more than anything, now im second, third, fourth, I dont even know. Im not the only one who changed Jeff."

Jeff's eyes narrowed. "I waited a fucking year for you Michael!" Jeff said. "Who was there when the doctors gave up? I was. Who was the one that stood by you? ME."

"Yeah, and you wait until Im awake and miserable before you give up. But it dont matter, I will be taken care of, either by Daffy or myself, so I dont have to live every day in some hell without you." Mike laughed a broken laugh. "I would rather you have let them pull the plug than know you would rather have that kid than me."

"I couldn't just give her up Mike!" Jeff stressed.

"Yeah......so you gave me up." Mike looked at Jeff with teary eyes.
