Your Sacrifice Is The Price I Pay To Be Free

The nurse hugged John tightly. "H-He said he loved you." She whispered. "Before I left, he said it."

John smiled as he wiped away several tears.
He knew he didn't deserve Mike's love but he needed it. It was his drug. He was addicted.

"The poor man was talking so fondly of you. Said how you smiled, everything you did made him so happy. Just to see you smile.....was one of the greatest gifts ever.

John let out a strangled sob, small smile appearing on his tear streaked face.

"Yeah, see that's better. Smile for him." The nurse stroked John's wet cheek.

"Thank you ma'am." John smiled softly. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to bother you with my problems."

"No problem, I didn't want to bother him with mine. I walked into that room earlier a sobbing mess, I came out grinning like I had won the lottery." She nodded to Mike's room. "Hes so special."

"He is ain't her?" John smirked. "I hope he makes it." He looked down at his feet and shook his head.

"Im so sorry, I dont want to believe it but its not looking like he......" The nurse sighed and shook her head sadly.

John sobbed, shaking his head. It was all his fault.
"You don't have to keep comforting me y'know. I'll stop bothering you" John frowned.

"I want to. I don't want to leave you here alone. Not after knowing what you might be losing."

"Thank you for being so kind. I can tell Mike would've really liked you." John smiled, patting the nurse's shoulder.

She smiled. "He rubbed off on me today, he was so.......special but sometimes being so nice can be dangerous." She sighed. "Apparently he trusted who ever did that to him way to much."

John swallowed hard. The woman couldn't have been more right. He gulped, blinking back a few more tears.

She shook her head. "Who could do such a think to a man so sweet and loving."

John turned away hiding the guilt in his eyes. His lower lip trembled.
"Thanks for your help ma'am. I... gotta go to the bathroom."

She nodded and went back to work, looking back at Mike's room one more time. Praying the sweet man would make it.

John locked himself in the largest stall and broke down in a blubbering mess. John Cena wasn't supposed to cry like this.

The doctors came out, the nurse had give Mike blood and even though the had internal bleeding, they thought he would make it.

John managed to wipe away the tears and pull himself together long enough to go check on Mike.

Mike was looking down at his stomach, tracing the rugged N with his eyes. He didn't like it.

"Mike." John smiled, when Mike was moving as he entered the room. But it faded when he saw Mike tracing the N.

"Oh, hi." Mike smiled brightly at his lover, his baby blue eyes snapping up to meet John's own Cobalt ones

John frowned down at the N, clearly carved in his own sloppy scrawl.
He shook his head.
"H-hi. Are you gonna be alright?"

"The doctors think i'll live." Mike smiled sweetly at John. "And I feel a little bit better."
