Your Sacrifice Is The Price I Pay To Be Free

John took Mike's hand and held it tightly.
"I love you so much. If you're going to die I want that to be the last thing I say to you."

Mike swallowed trying to hard to hold on but he was so tired and a nap seemed so inviting.

"I love you. I love you. I love you." John repeated over and over. He knew Mike could go at any second and he wanted the last thing Mike heard to be him saying those words.

Mike was just happy that he was not going to be alone when he died, that thought always scared him so much.

"I love you." john continued until he ran out of breath. He paused and started again after placing a small kiss on Mike's forhead.

Mike whimpered, he heard John and it made him want to live so much more.

John eventually added a small I'm sorry in with the i love you's.
"So sorry Mike."

Mike didn't like how that felt, it made him think about how he was dying all because of John.

John leaned down and kissed his lips softly.
"I love you." He really didn't have anything else to say. One glimpse of the large N that would now be permanently scarred on his chest had John sobbing uncontrollably again.

Mike whimpered, his chest hurt him so bad, bu his heart hurt worse. He wanted to just go home.

John stayed quiet now, trying his best to comfort Mike's trembling body.

Mike's heart stopped all of a sudden, alerting a nurse who was instantly on her way to try and save him.

John bit down on his knuckle, praying to god that Mike would make it.

A nurse busted in and pushed John away, quickly opening Mike's gown, letting the bloody N on the bandages show as she tried to jump start his heart.

John was shaking back and forth.
"Please, please let him be okay. Oh god please let him make it."

The nurse looked panicked as she called in a doctor, which brought in a few more nurses, who forced John out.

John shouted out one more I love you and reluctantly walked outside, pacing the hallway.

A nurse cam out of the room, blood coating her clothes, arms, face, every where.

"Is... is he gonna make it?" John asked, shutting his eyes tightly, not wanting to really know the answer.

"I-I think hes dead." The nurse looked upset, that young man so so sweet and nice, it was heart breaking. "Th-the doctor is still trying though."

John's face fell. He thought he could actually feel his heart snap in two.
"O-okay." He nodded.

"I-Im so sorry, he was such a sweet man." She patted his arm, and shook her head.

"I know he was." John cried, biting his lower lip, drawing blood.

"D-Do you want a hug? I didn't know him but he was so sweet to me even though he was the patient in pain. My boyfriends broke up with me and I was crying, that poor man stopped to see if I was okay and he had a damn N carved into his belly."

"A hug'd be nice." John nodded, sobbing. He held open his arms.
