"I don't know, Mike used to sing it alot." Critter shrugged. "I liked it, it was different."

"Did it start like this?" Alex asked.
"It's 3 AM and I finally say
I'm sorry for acting that way
I didn't really mean to make you cry

Critter nodded quickly. "Yeah, thats how it started, Mike loved that song and I heard it from him so much I got where I liked it to."

"I wrote that." He gave a small smile. "I wrote it for Mike after... Nevermind." He didn't want Critter to think he was horrible for hitting Mike.

Critter gave him a strange look. What was Alex hiding? He hummed to himself. "What did you do to him?"

Alex sighed. He didn't want to hide anything from Critter.
"I... hit him."

Critter frowned but shrugged. He and Mike had a few bad fist fights in there life, against each other.
"He deserved it didn't he?"

Alex had been expecting a worse reaction.
"I don't think he did..."

Critter shrugged. "I don't know about you guys but we grew up together and me and him have had some nasty fist fights and usually we are both to blame." He didn't know what to think about some one hitting Mike and Mike not have deserved it.

Alex nodded.
"To be honest I don't even remember what it was we were fighting about."

"Oh well im sure you had a good reason to hit him." Critter said sarcastically, he remembered every fist fight.

Alex sighed. But decided to put that aside for the moment. He kissed Critter's cheek.

"Do you think he knows how you feel?" Critter asked quietly as he held Alex to his chest.

"I don't think so... I'm terrified to tell him..." Alex sighed.

"Me to.....Alex, I don't want to make this any harder but I dont want to see him break."

"Me either." Alex sighed. "The next time I see him. I guess I sort of have to tell him..."

"I don't know. If he was watching and he heard....I don't think he will be around anymore."

"I didn't even think about that..." Alex said worriedly. He hoped Mike hadn't been listening.

Critter fretted about it. "I hate it but I think he could have been, he followed you around I guess....."

"Baby, you here?" Alex called into the seemingly empty room except for him and Critter.

Critter sighed. "I think hes gone Alex....." And he was. Mike had heard and he had left. He still hung around the grave yard and with his son but that was all.

Alex's lower lip trembled. He sighed.
"Lane... I didn't want to hurt him..."

"I know you didn't Boo.....But there was no other way if you were telling the truth when you said you loved me more...."

"I am telling the truth." Alex said. He was. He wouldn't lie about this.

"Then there was no way to not hurt him." He kissed Alex's cheek. "I wish I knew what to tell you but I don't."
