I Dream Of Death

After a few hours Alex reluctantly walked back to the house. His eyes were bloodshot, his face was tear streaked and he had actually had to stop a few times to puke.

Mike was asleep.
Lane looked up at him. "C'mere Boo." He nudged Mike to one side and held him in one arm, the other opened for Alex.

"M-my mark." Alex's eyes widened and shown with hurt. "N-no." He said and more tears fell. The first thing Alex noticed was the mark on Mike's shoulder. It matched his own. He had thought he was special. That was his mark. He let out a broken sob when he remembered what Lane had said when he gave Alex that mark.
"You are mine now, I was marking you as such." Were his exact words. No, Mike was not Lane's.

"Alex baby, I love you both. That mark means if anyone fucks with either of you I have the right to kill there ass." Lane sighed. "And your both mine now Boo so come here."

Lane wasn't taking Mike away, he knew Mike loved Alex more. But one way or the other they were his to take care of and he loved them so he would.

"N-no!" Alex sobbed, burying his head in Lane's neck. He didn't like to share. He would've been fine with the three of them together but Lane had no right to mark Mike as his.

"Shhhhhhhh Boo, are you that upset? You dont want me to love and protect him to?"

Critter asked as he placed soft kissed to Alex's hair.

Alex roughly wiped away tears and stood.
He felt betrayed.
"Well both of the men I love just slept with each other. I know I asked you guys to do it but it doesnt fucking feel good. I have a right to be upset. You gave him that mark. I thought I was special. Thought i was the only one you would ever give that fucking mark too. How many other people have it Lane? Three? Four? Five? Could be hundreds for all I fucking matter. And of all the people to give it to... Mike! Really? Mike?! You know how much I fucking love him. He is MINE!" Alex sobbed.
"Goodbye! Tell Mike to call me when he wakes up and I'll tell him where I went. That is if he wants to see me. Or did you already fill his mind with lies like you did mine?" Alex shouted before storming out the door.

Lane was stunned, he didn't know what to do. Had Alex just let him? Lane had only ever given him and Mike that mark, Sarah didn't have it and neither did anyone else. Alex was special, he was Lane's most prized possession but Mike was second and Daffy wouldn't touch him again knowing what that mark meant if he knew what was good for him. Alex had just left him.....All because he was trying to love Mike and keep him safe too. Didnt Alex wonder why Daffy had yet to hit him or anything? Lane was heartbroken, in all his years of war he had never been hurt so bad. Lane woke Mike up and kissed his cheek before telling him where Alex was. Lane went to his room and softly shut the door. Mike got up and limped out of the house, stumbling around in the woods and calling for Alex.
He had never rightly seen that look in Lane's eyes, not when Sarah died, not when his mother hit him, not when he was injured in war, he had never saw it but he knew Alex had done it.

Alex was curled up in a ball, somewhere deep in the forest. He knew he probably couldn't find his way back if he wanted to but that was fine by him. If you were anywhere around him you could hear his heartbreaking sobs and him shouting at himself.
"I gave up Mike! I gave up everything good in my fucking life for Lane! And this is what I get! God I am such a fucking jackass!" He bashed his head off a tree, letting it rest there for a moment as he cried. "Thought he loved me." He let out a bitter laugh. "What a joke!" He angrilly scratched at the mark Lane gave him, as if that would make all the pain he felt go away.

Mike heard the yelling and followed it back to Alex.
"Alex." He hugged his lover. "Shhhhhh, Whatever happened im sure we are all just going about it wrong. What is wrong with you? What did Lane do?" Mike held Alex close, he needed Lane.

"He gave you m-my mark!" Alex sobbed, clutching onto Mike.

Mike's hand instantly covered it with his hand.
"Alex baby, whats so bad about that? Only two people have it...he didnt think it would hurt you like this...."

"It's MINE! And out of all people he gave it to YOU! You're MINE too!" Alex sobbed even harder.

Mike flinched, sitting back away from his former husband.
"Your upset because I have it too?....."

"Yes! It is my mark and you are m-mine. Not his." Alex cried. "Or are you now?" Alex forget the entire reason why he asked them to do this. "Was I right? Do you love him more now?" He backed away from Mike, looking up at him with eyes filled with pain, worry and hardly any hope left.

Mike got up and hugged Alex again. "No baby I dont love him more, when is that going to reach you? Because you loved him more dont mean I will." Mike kissed Alex's neck.
Mike had been through the same thing, he had been in the room watching when Alex was marked as Lanes and taken away from him but Alex hadn't given it a second thought then.

Alex continued to cry. Why had he asked them to do this? "No, this is not yourr faultt. You asked Lane to make love to him. NOT mark Mike as his. This is Lane's fault." He told himself.

"Alex.....Did you leave Lane? He.....I think he thinks your done with him...you left him." Mike said softly, he didn't know what was going on but ha hated how hurt his befriend and his lover was.

"Why does he care? Not like i'm anything special." Alex sighed.

"Alex....dont talk like that. You mean more to him than anything. " Mike chastised softly.

"No I don't. i thought I did but apparently I'm nothing special. I thought I was the only one he'd give that too..."

"Alex, he only did it because I broke down crying. I was upset because of Daffy and....I dont think Daffy will hurt me anymore now that I have that mark and so did Lane. Im sorry,....I shouldn't have allowed it, I was scared but thats no reason...." Mike put his head down, he would rather let Daffy hurt him then Alex be in so much pain.

"You... let him." Alex's eyes shone with hurt. He hadn't known it was coming when Lane gave him the mark. He had hoped that was what happened with Mike too. But no, Mike knewit was coming... wanted it.... asked for it. This hurt thousand times worse.
"Y'know I have fucking teeth. I could've marked you. It'd look just the same." Alex tried to sound angry rather than heartbroken. He hoped it worked. He turned away and faced a tree, not daring to look Mike in the eyes.

"I-I....I didn't specifically ask for it....And I wasn't sure what he was doing until it was t-to late." Mike bottom lip trembled. Alex didn't give a damn if he was hurt or not, Daffy would hurt him and this mark might have stopped that but it didn't matter. Mike turned away to hind the tears before walking off.

"No. C-come back." Alex whimpered. He could have fucking fight Daffy off. But no, just like he had expected Mike wanted Critter to. Alex had fucked up the second he let that no good, war veteran, heart breaking man into his life. He had no one. He stood and ran. Ran until his legs wouldn't work anymore. He had no clue where he was. He must have ran for miles but he didn't care. Maybe if he waited long enough and hoped enough he would die out here. No one would care anyways. He had two me- scratch that, ONE man who loved him and he lost him.
