I Dream Of Death

Mike got to the house and went into his own room and didn't come back out. Sarah was left standing alone in the living room wondering what was so wrong.

Alex was slowly going insane. He was back to that emotionless state Critter had found him in that night that seemed so long ago. The night Alex now considered as the biggest mistake of his life.

Lane couldn't take it anymore. He needed to see Alex and make sure he was okay. He slipped out the house and began looking, soon he found him. Lane dropped to his knees beside his husband and gathered him in his arms.

"Wh-what are you doing here?" Alex tried to look at him with resentment but couldn't. Whether he thought Lane loved him or not he still loved Lane.

"I came to get you. I always take care of you before me." He sighed.
"I love you, I dont give a fuck what you think but I do and I know I do. I marked him, I didn't want Daffy hurting him anymore. I figured I was going you a favor B-.....Alex."

"I could've marked him. I just never wanted to hurt him." Alex spat. "He's begged me to mark him before but I couldn't cause him one second of pain but apparently you can."

"I did it to save him hours of agony at the hands of Daffy. I know you couldn't hurt him, you were just getting him back, but I am strong, I am the strong one. Why? Because I cant be weak, if I was we would have fallen apart. Years of war and hardships have made me strong and I cant be weak, even if I want to because no one will be strong for me. So yes, I did what you couldn't to help him."

"I would have if he would've told me he wanted it so Daffy wouldn't hurt him. Look Lane, just leave me alone. Don't pity me. I don't want to be lied to any m-more." Alex hiccuped, cursing himself.

"For fucks sake Alex, when have I lied to you huh? Tell me when I lied?"

"Every time the words I love you came out of your mouth." Alex said softly, and he looked at Lane with teary eyes before standing and walking away.

Lane let out a snarl, catching up to Alex making him look at him and pushing him against a tree.
"You listen to me! I fucking love you damnit I have never lied but if you want to leave me, call me a lair go ahead. Im not Mike, I love you but I cant take this, I wont! I have done for you I have loved you and I have protected you and if you want to throw it away and leave me then go ahead." Tears of anger and pain dripped down Lane's cheeks, he had let someone close to him and now he was paying the price.

Alex was shocked, frightened, and hurt. But somewhere deep inside a flame of joy danced. Lane cared. He truly did. Alex grabbed him and kissed him roughly, sloppily. Then he slid out of his grip, walking away yet again. He had problems. Lane had hurt him more than anyone ever had. And he couldn't get enough of it.

Lane watched him go before turning back and going home, once more locking himself into his room.

Alex sighed. He couldn't keep doing this to himself. It hurt way too much. One or the other. Lane or Mike. You have to choose. No. Both. Was what he came up with every time.

It wasn't like Mike or Critter minded, they could share, they might not like it but they could.

Alex was the one who minded. He didn't know why but he could not share Mike. He might be able to share Critter but not Mike.

Speaking of Mike the fever was bad, he was bed ridden, and very sick. He felt like death but he was already dead.

Alex hated being alone. He was out here all by himself. With no one to hold him. No one to reassure him, tell him it'd all work out. In his mind, Lane and Mike had already moved on. Forgotten all about him and were making love right now. Mike had Lane's mark after all. He couldn't take it anymore.

Lane was fidgeting in his room, Mike was sick and he didn't want Alex out there alone. He sighed and once again went to get him.
When he found Alex to took his hand.
"C'mon, I dont want you out here alone and Mike is sick."

Alex sighed and reluctantly followed Lane to the house.
"Did Mike make you come get me....?"

"He wants you home but he ......He is too sick to come ask me to get you so I went on my own."

"Did you want to?" Alex asked curiously. Did Lane miss him at all?

"Yes Alex, I wanted to. I dont want you out here alone. You might want a divorce, so be it but that dont mean I dont love you and I dont worry because I do."

"I don't want a divorce." Alex sighed. He sidestepped in front of Lane.
"It's too late to take back the mark you gave Mike. But I want to be special. I want to know I'm the only one. Mark me again. Bigger this time." Alex had a certain thing in mind.

"Alex, your jealous of Mike and he doesn't want anyone but you. Don't be like that towards him, he would rather let Daffy hurt him than have that mark because it bothers you." Critter stepped pass Alex, taking his hand again.
