I Dream Of Death

"He wrote it for me..." Alex murmured softly.

"Oh, Im so sorry."
She carded her fingers through his hair.
"I didnt know...."

"It's alright..." Alex sniffled. "I wrote one for him and he wrote one for me..."

"I know the one you wrote, he sings it all the time."
She chuckled.
"Its 3 am, and I finally say, Im sorry, for acting that way. I didnt really mean to, make you cry. Oh baby, sometimes I wonder why."

Alex gave her a small smile.
"That's the one..."

"He sings it all the time. I know all the words." She giggled.

"He does?" Alex smiled fondly. "It;s really not that good..."

"He loves it though, hell even I like it but its all he has so its just close ot his heart so he sings at random."

Alex gave a small smile.
"He sings it often?"

"Oh yeah, he was singing it earlier before Lane came in. He sings it almost every day it seems like."

"Singing the one he wrote hurts too much.." Alex sighed.

"For you it does because you had the choice and you let him go. He sings yours because its all he has left....."

Alex sighed. He hated this. Was everyone just trying to cause him pain? Make him feel guilty?

She got up and went back out to see Mike and Lane. The were how they left them, Mike sitting there helplessly as Lane held him and cried.

Alex fell asleep, praying that this would not invade his dreams. No such luck.

Hours later Daffy had come by, talked to Mike, and Mike had wanted to stay a while wanted to stay a while longer so Daffy said he would come back later. Mike feel asleep on Critter's arms and Critter wound up taking Mike and getting in bed with Alex, Mike tucked protectively in the middle of them.

Alex sighed, tears filling his cobalt blue eyes as he wrapped an arm tightly around Mike's waist.

Mike mumbled an incoherent "I miss you" In his sleep and snuggled closer to Alex.

Alex held him as close as possible.
"I miss you too baby. So so much."

Mike sniffled in his sleep, his lithe form curling into a ball as he enjoyed being in Alex's arms. "I love you..." He mumbled tiredly.

"I love you too darlin'." Alex said softly, kissing the top of his former lover's head.

Mike snorted but stayed silent, he hated that he couldn't stay like this....

"Stay here." Alex whispered in Mike's ear. "Stay with me."

"Alex, you can't have us both, you can't take it and I cant be around you without that....it hurts to much....." He snuggled closer, enjoying it while he can.

"I'll try... I'll try anything for you... just for you." Alex murmured.
