"We were married for twenty five years. I think I would know..."

"Alex, you have not been with me for a long time too, you changed, you might not know me as well anymore."

"Well I can still tell when you're lying... if you won't tell me I'll just go ask Quinton.."

"Go ahead, its none of your damn business, not like he is obliged to tell you anything and neither am I."
But Mike did tell him most everything but what Daffy and his brother did was none of his business."

Alex folded his arms, setting Mike down on the couch and standing.
"I'll be in my room." He didn't like Mike hiding things from him.

Mike sighed and curled up on the couch, he fell into a fitful sleep. Alex was mad at him, but it was not his place to say what Daffy and Quinton did. His shivered as he dreams bothered him.

"Lane doesn't hide shit from me." He muttered to himself. He sighed. You love Mike... he''s just a bit irritating at times.

Mike had went to apologize, he heard that. His took a deep breath and then he simply left.

Alex simply laid there. He didn't know Mike had left.

Sarah came in a while later.
"Where did Mike go? Did you two have a fight? He left and he didnt look too happy."

"He left!?" Alex exclaimed. "Goddamnit. I can't leave him alone for five seconds!"

"He's not a baby Alex, not like you have to baby sit him."
She frowned, she didnt like that.

"But I do!" Alex screamed, dragging a hand over his face. "Every time I leave him alone he gets hurt..." He sighed. This was true.

"Well hell Alex, he seemed upset or pissed off, I think he can handle himself."

Then it hit him. This was it. The reason he had chosen Lane. With Lane he didn't have to be on guard 24/7. He didn't have to panic if Lane left the house for a bit. Lane could take care of himself.

Sarah shrugged. "Ill be in the kitchen, I hope he is home by supper." She mussed allowed.

"Fine." Alex wasn't chasing after him this time. If he got hurt it was his own fault.

Mike had just left, after a week he came by to get his things, well him and Quinton came by, Daffy was doing more yard work.

"Why?" Alex asked softly when Mike came by. Why was he leaving? What had he done that was so bad?

Mike took Alex off to the side and hugged him.
"I can't be Lane, Alex. I can't....."

"I'm not asking you to be Lane, Mike." Alex sighed. "Yes, sometimes it's nice and refreshing to have Lane. To stop being the strong one. But I do miss being able to just hold someone tight. I can't baby Lane. I can't just love him. Sometimes I like having to comfort someone."

"But you were comparing us, I heard you. You were muttering how Lane didn't hid things from you. You cant compare us because I don't add up to Lane."

Alex sighed.
"Baby I didn't mean for you to hear that. I was just upset. I thought we told each other everything.."

"It wasn't my place to tell you that. I wasn't really involved in it, it was between Quinton and Daffy. I cant be compared to Lane Alex, if your going to do that your going to realize that I don't compare."

"But you do compare Mike. I can sit here and list off each of you two's good qualities along with the bad. And I'm positive you would at least be equal to him."
