Surprise........Daddy

"She doesn't like it," Aiden said. "Hasn't liked anything but food going her mouth since everything started with her voice."

Randy grimaced at the thought of what else might have been put in her mouth.
"'Lanna baby, open your mouth." Randy whispered, shaking her gently.

Aiden watched Lanna jerk away, turning her back to Randy shaking her head as she whined. "'Lanna Belle....." Aiden said softly. "It's alright." Alanna didn't move.

After a few more tries, Randy sighed.
"When I was younger, my mom took my temperature under my arm. I'll try that."

"She should be okay with that," Aiden nodded.

"'Lanna can you lift your arm up for me?" Randy asked softly.

Alanna whined a little and did as she was asked.

Randy gently placed the thermometer under her arm and waited for the beep, signaling that he could take it out. Eventually the small beeping came and he looked at the device. 101.8.
He showed it to Aiden.
"'Lanna's burning up. Should we get her to a doctor?"

At the sound of that word Alanna curled up, shaking her head wildly. "She won't go without a fight, but she needs to," Aiden said.

"Lanna honey, you gotta go to the doctor." Randy cooed.

Lanna continued to shake her head, pushing herself farther away from Randy.

"C'mon Lanna, please." Randy begged, not wanting to argue with her.

Alanna turned to him, tears rolling down her cheeks, her lower lip quivering. Her big blue eyes pleaded with him.

"Honey, I'm sorry but you gotta go." Randy lifted her into his arms.

"Daddy please," Alanna mouthed the words, no sound passing through her lips. Aiden froze. "She's never done that....."

"She hasn't?" Randy asked with wide eyes.

Alanna sniffled while Aiden shook his head, "Never...."

"Aiden, I'm gonna take Lanna to the doctor. I'll call Cody over to watch you while I'm gone, it shouldn't be too long." Randy said, picking up his cell phone.

Aiden nodded, handing Alanna her Belle doll.

Randy dialed the number he knew very well and held the phone to his ear, waiting for that lisp to answer.

"Hello?" Cody muttered sleepily, rubbing his eyes.

"Hey Cody. It's Randy. I, um kinda have an emergency I need your help with." Randy said.

Cody sat up. "What'th up man?" Cody lisped.

"Uh, it's not that easy to explain over the phone. It's easier if you see for yourself. Can you come over to my place?"

"Th-ure man," Cody lisped.
